It is a shame India does not act to protect the interests of its citizens even after this news came up.
Why do you think it is Indian citizens? Just because some politicians are saying so for their own gains all Tamilians in Srilanka are not Indian citizen.
Heck, even USA is trying harder than India by using its muscle to block billions of dollars of IMF funds to SL for not caring about ceasefire.

As per Macaca's logic, pre Oct 2005 PDs will take up all the numbers available for EB2 Indai for 2007, in June and July.
If that is the case why was the Bulletin for july not set to Oct or Nov 2005 and instead made current. Surely USCIS does not want to deal with all the extra workload if it does not have to.

One consideration is that majority of Indians coming to US have a plan to leave within a certain time period or after a certain goal saving whatever amount...
I had that kind of goal too...But after 5-6 years the considerations change....
Also all arguments came out of UnitedNations unfortunately are already present and deep seated in a very large %age of our compatriots....That is the main reason behind the less mobilization......
Also the situations are changing in homeland...The value of a green card had dropped in the eyes of a large number of people....This situation of people lining up for green cards would change in a few years...especially if the economic growth keeps the tempo it has....
I don't know the context of the above explaination. It is no explanation for the following (I have truck loads of them) which is posted nearly once/day. Many such opinions may not be posted.

I have seen this personally in talking to people and you can see the evidence with less than 300 people contributing. IV needs to produce results first.

Maybe Indians don't have balls, but there is something called cultural exchange which every country share with each another. Now if SRK decides that US immigration has mistreated him and he decides not to enter US, world is not going to fall down. Recently I heard that HOLLYWOOD wants to come BOLLYWOOD to make investments, maybe out of bussiness sense HOLLYWOOD should support SRK. A genuine mistake can be corrected using nunc-pro-tunc method. I used to work for a big Indian IT major and they forgot to file my wife's H4 and when I moved to a big 4 firm..they filed nunc-pro-tunc. According to you definition, if any company makes a mistake, we are illegal. LOL.

The mid month retrogression can happen...not based on number of filed applications but based on number of approved applications....and if they have enough applications (preadjudicated) sitting for numbers to become available...the system should process all of them in one day...and you know what will happen then............

You can renew your permanent resident card only if you lived in canada for atleast 2 years in 5 years. And to get the card, you need to get a guarantor signature who knows you for atleast 2 years e.g. a physician, attorney, etc

Grassley bill will not close the door for immigrants but will decrease substanially from 200k(H1+L1) to 80k. But retrogession will go down and those 80k will have less problem in getting green card. You can chose whether to allow unlimited L1 and 125K h1b and 10 to 15 years waiting time or allow 30K L1 + 50K H1b and 3 to 5 years waiting time in green card. Which option will be better for you? If your skills are not good certainly you will not want any restrictions. If your skills are excellent you will survive whatever restrictions they put. They cannot reduce H1b below 65k as that is a part of WTO. So there is no one can block H1b program.

If a company hired you for 2 days just to allow you to file 485 with no intent to have a job ready for you in future, the company and you commited immigration fraud --- a bigger problem. Also, you cannot invoke AC21 to switch employer before 180 days after you file 485. So, it still remains a mystery how you moved out just after filing 485.
Your favor towards Grassleys bill shows you just want to close the door. Grassleys bill, if implemented will make it very difficult for even legit employers to get H1 employee. It is a kin to almost closing H1 program out of which you benefitted.
Also, did you ever floated such ideas when you were on H1 ?

If Dept of State finds by mid of the month all(not by country) EB3 or EB2 numbers consumed, then they may come back and say no more acceptance of particular category. But generally they don't want to do that for EB category applications, because it is difficult for them to evaluate, reason is some numbers from Family category will be transfered to EB categories.
It happened for EB2 India, in the month of July 2006 mid. All numbers for EB2 India were utilized before mid of July, but even then they didn't come back in the mid of the month. So they made it "U" in next bulletin.

I agree, the notion of fix our problem so that we housing problem is not a good approach.
Our situation is grave enough that it needs a focus on its own. Our efforts should be to bring this on fore front of the issues being discussed in congress and in public media.
While it is a good idea to educate the congress regarding the impact the EB Green Card applicants could have on the Housing Market. It is a terrible idea to propose a legislation which would offer GCs to applicants who would purchases houses in US. To put it bluntly, the legislation seems to be meant for selling GCs to applicants who are in a position to afford it, offering GC to applicants who will invest in housing market is akin to giving out GCs for cash and there is already a category for that. How would one factor in the CP applicants like nurses and PT who are waiting in their home countries?
The idea should be modified to spread the message regarding the positive impact that the EB GC applicants could have on the housing market and not to create a niche category of EB applicants who can purchase their GC to scoot ahead of other less fortunate ones. This proposal should be nipped in the bud before some anti immigrant group or advocate like Lou gets wind of it.
