I am watching this thread last 36 hours, this is not media to discuss political issues, we are here to educate/lobby so called law makers of this country for our immigration issues.

Tamils in SL is not Indian citizen but they migrated long back still have culture,family relation in India. It is Indian gov. lobbied efforts to ban LTTE by western country. they are well organized, disciplined and high tech group. some people raise another issue, they recruited young children to fight, we all are talking so called democartic India, still encouraging child labor every where in India. Srilanka Government boldy refusing all western country pressure, even United Nation (UN, this is pice of shit in the trash) unable to convience SL gov. because it is backed by Indian gov. or you may called Sonia gov.
Bottom line is Sonia is taking revenge on Tamils by supporting SL gov., after all she is from the country that killed Jesus.

Giving GC's for buying home seems toomuch biased and benefits only a subset of EB, and totally shifts the basis of the EB category.
On the other hand, if their visas can be exempted from the visa numbers(annual quota), but still tied to the visa dates being current for their priority dates, this will benefit the entire community and law makers can justify the approach without stiff oppositions, if any. To me this feels lot more reasonable and everyone(EB applicants) will evenly benefit from this.
Almost 20-30% of the Eb appl. from 2001-2005 should be already in a position to buy or bought a home. That should help dates move faster for older dates.
Just a thought. But this alone will NOT resolve all our issues and backlogs. Just speedsup the date movement in a steadily manner.

Three facts, followed by one interpretation.
First: several members (incl self) have checked with their own lawyers and these lawyers tend to agree with the common interpretation of validity for entire month. And at least some of these are lawyers with many years of practice.
Second: Fragomen, the largest immigration law firm, on its website mentions the mid-month possibility; so while there is no government source, the whole topic cannot be dismissed as an unfounded rumor.
Third: Macaca keeps cutting and pasting from the ombudsman's report in many different colors.

It is surprising to me that some, so called high skilled, folks can be so blinded by their desire to get the green card that they are unable to see right from wrong.
Never mind the pain of those affected by this inequitable system, or if this is technically legal, or whether it can be challenged in court. Think about what you are condoning � an unjust government policy that presumably works for you, now. By advocating an unfair policy today, in the long run you are undermining your own position as an immigrant in this country.
You seem to be crying out loud - �I am a high skilled foreigner, but I am different, different from them! Look, look at my color, texture, please look at my passport. Oh no fuck that, please look at my place of birth. Skills? Yes we all have them, but let�s not get distracted. I am different - will you please look at my birth certificate, please?�
Oh I hear ya. But all said and done, you will still be a foreigner to the average Joe on the street, even after you get your green card or naturalization papers. And if things go south, then those unethical policy makers, whom you give a pass today, will find a way to get you � and yes, that birth certificate will come handy. It is important to be united, and stay united.
To say that the United States has the right to make any law with respect to immigration doesn�t make an unjust law right. Presumably you are well educated and can understand this. And speaking of education � was it your degree or birth certificate that you took to your job interview that set this process in motion? It is counter intuitive to have such a provision where, to begin with, it is your skills that enabled you to get in line.
Apart from the resounding racial undertone, this policy is also harmful for the society at large. It encourages people to be conscious about their origins, be aware of their differences and the whole idea of America being a melting pot just goes down the toilet.
I understand it is difficult for some to fight this unfair system, because first you may have to fight and win against your basic instincts. It is hard for us, but this attitude may make things harder for you in the future.

US economy situation is alarming. I doubt they will consider any immigration related bill until financial crisis stablises.2009 will be the key.Economy has to stablise. If not anti immigrants will block any bill citing the economy as the reason. If unemployment increases every month then any immigration reform is distance possiblity.Illegal immigrants are is getting publicity every year by rally for past 4 years but nothing happened. Pro immigrants are trying to block E-verify and some other anti immigration reforms. Anti immigrants are trying to block pro immigrant reforms. By saying that HE is responsible for the development is clearly under estimating the capabilities of the gujrati people. Just for folks who aren't aware - there are 500,000 high skilled legal immigrant already in USA who are waiting in queue for numbers of years to get their Permanent Residency. Thanks to the limited visa availability based on country chargeability (birth of applicant) and inefficiency of immigration system, these highly skilled, tax paying and law abiding immgrants are waiting for their Green Card (Permanent residency). Some of them have studied here, worked here for years and US is almost a second home to them. They are sitting on pile of cash, Yes - PILE OF HARD CASH. They wouldn't buy house or any big ticket items until they get Green card. Why not give these people, who are already part of our system, conditional Permanent Residency who buy houses. This will also get us immediately required cash and home inventory will go down as much as 300K at minimum. P.S. I AM TALKING ABOUT HIGH SKILLED LEGAL IMMGRANTS AND NOT ABOUT ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS.

In my humble opinion this is the best thing that could have happened!!! I feel bad for Mr. Khan suffering like a common man for a while but his suffering brought to light what we have to deal with every time we travel...
I think extreme cases bring home the point so I would encourage Indian government and the governments of all the south asian countries to take this up with the USCIS / Home land security and ask them to educate their staff...

Do you know the rates top consulting company charges? they normally starts from $400/hr+ in Accenture, PWC, KPMG, E&Y Etc and their employee's do not get paid more than 20%. Its a practice around the world.
Check what they are paying. I know a company which charges $110-$130 ph to the client and payes around $30K for the employee in L1. Is it good business practice...? Not only desi consulting cos...these a$$ also the reason we are in this mess today. Just imagine when the antis comes to know that 30K pa salary....

For first quarter EB2 India will have 1/4 of 9,800(7% of 140k visas), which are 2,450 visas. I wonder
how u got 800 visas. I dont see much retrogression in EB2 dates other than some mild ones. And the dates move pretty fast on a whole.
About EB3: it wont be like now all the time. The Immigration reform bill wont keep failing all the time. There would be a time for it to pass in the next two years. As soon as it passes all our Employment Based categories, specifically EB3, will get greatest benefit with PDs almost becoming current.

But I agree with you that in the last quarter EB2 I will move very fast because it will get all the spillovers from EB1 and EB2 ROW..

I still believe that the rumor is true. The numbers will retrogress in middle of the month or even earlier probably by the end of first week of july. It doesn't mean that all the catagories will become unavailable. They may retrogress the numbers by 2-3 years and still have enough approvable I-485 for the last quarter of the current fiscal year.
